If a team's 8th,9th or 10th runners finishes top 15 in the district race. Do you advance top other 7 runners that finished after them? Tim

@pocoach Remember, only 7 of your athletes can compete at the next level. If you have 10 athletes in the top 15 individuals, then your team (any athlete listed on the the district entry list) will more than likely qualify for the next level. Meaning, at the next level you can choose (from that list) who represents your team. Those 10 that competed in district competition will be eligible for individual awards at the next level. That being said, your #'s 8, 9, & 10 that finished in the top 15 are thrown out of the scoring (only your top 7 contribute to team scores) and who ever finished in 11th, 12th, & 13th will slide into the 8th, 9th, & 10th positions. So, your 8th, 9th, & 10th placers can not compete at the next level unless you choose to sub one of your top 7 with any of those 3 (only 7 can compete)....

@pocoach 4.5.2.2.4 Advancement of Teams and Individuals (a) District Meet to Regional Meet. In a districts with six (6) or less teams entered, the first three (3) placing teams and the top fifteen (15) runners will advance to the region meet, in a districts with seven (7) to nine (9) teams entered, the first four (4) placing teams and the top fifteen (15) runners will advance to the region meet, and in a districts with ten (10) or more teams entered, the first five (5) placing teams and the top fifteen (15) runners will advance. “Entered” is defined as being present at the starting line and competing. A runner who qualifies in the top fifteen (15) and who also is a member of a qualifying team may be replaced in the team lineup [regional meet/Florida High School State Championship Series] by a substitute. The substitute, however, shall not be eligible for individual honors on any subsequent level of competition. (b) Regional Meet to Florida High School State Championship Series. The first six (6) placing teams and the top fifteen (15) runners in each regional meet shall advance to the Florida High School State Championship Series. A runner who qualifies in the top fifteen (15) and who also is a member of a qualifying team may be replaced in the team lineup [regional meet/Florida High School State Championship Series] by a substitute. @multijumps so the way I have always understood this rule is if your team of 7 qualifies as a team and you have one of those kids in the top 15 you are able to bring 8 kids to regionals.

@Longhorn you cannot run more than 7 at Region, even if you go 1-10 at district. Your 8-10 do not displace any runners so yes, those outside the top 15 would move on if this happens.

@Longhorn You can take as many kids to the Regional meet as you want, but only 7 are allowed to compete...and those 7 must be on the District entry list.

That makes sense 7 runners allowed at Regionals. Don't why a team would run 8 girls at the 4A region 2 meet last year. rules apply to everybody. Go Baguba

While we are trying to get some clarity on this topic, what about the awards? If your 8 - 10 finish in the top 15 do they get an awards or are they displaced as well?

Any runner past your 7 would essentially be like they never ran. They do not count for awards, they do not displace, they cannot advance (unless you substitute someone from your top 7). You may only run 7 at regionals.
