Seeing the comment on New World Complex in Jacksonville I am wondering what the state of Florida cross country venues is these days. Of course we have FSU's ARP, and I really like what's happening with Holloway Park in Lakeland. What other Florida venues are top-notch true cross country courses?

We hve really enjoyed the Mountain Dew race in Gainesville. It’s a tossup if they hold the meet for high school. I’m hoping they hold the meet next year

@CoachHoward If you want a challenge, then the Cougar Challenge in Tallahassee (1st week of the official season). There is a 400m steep hill at the 2K and a 300m steeper hill at the 4K with undulating terrain in between. Here is this season's information page with links to contour maps. @CoachHoward Chiles hosts a meet at the same venue as the Cougar Challenge, but a completely different course containing many rolling hills throughout. https://fl.milesplit.com/meets/322026/coverage#.W99NR5NKjIU

I'll start the bandwagon for the Cougar Challenge in Tallahassee. Don't come if you want a nice soft early season race for your team. On the flip side, probably every race you do after this one will be easier. Great character builder, and the closest thing I have to a secret weapon for how the Maclay School teams go from being unranked to qualifying for State every year. Meet Director Jose Fernandez is a class act. You won't be disappointed.

I like our permanent course at South County Regional Park in Boca Raton (of course, I'm a little prejudice)

@multijumps I've had a couple athletes twist an ankle on this course, very rough in places. Cougar Challenge.

@coachmorse This is definitely not golf course footing. Undulating terrain and running through a double-wide, canopied, soft dirt trail through the woods for about 1200m (after the 2 mile mark) does beckon the athlete to remain vigilant and focused.

ARP and Couger are very good courses. Pensacola West Florida Course is great. The best event may be Disney even though they charge $695,490 per gender to run but the kids really enjoy it. I want to go to Key West one day.
I want to go to Key West one day.
They put on a great meet. It's a great course and very difficult; about 50 small hills I believe. They also allow coaches to use golf carts to drive around the venue. Definitely worth the trip.
