Note: This is just a prediction based on the top returning times of each athlete and does not take into account incoming freshman and transfers. Years are as of 2013 season.

We start off with our smallest classification 1A and over the next few days will look at all four classes. The top four in each region move on, but we went six deep, for those who might be on the bubble. Note: This is just a prediction based on the top returning times of each athlete and does not take into account incoming freshman and transfers.

Top Ten Returners By Class: 4A Girls & Boys Todd Grasley Feb 04, 2014

We conclude our top ten returners by class with our largest classification, 4A. If you want speed the girls sprints could set national leading marks. Sophomore Kaylin Whitney of East Ridge moves up from 3A to 4A and it doesn't get any easier. She will face a tough task from the stable of St. Thomas Aquinas sprinters and newly added Diamond Spaulding who has run some of the fastest times in the nation in 2013.

Top Ten Returners By Class: 3A Girls & Boys Todd Grasley Feb 04, 2014

We continue our top ten returners feature with class 3A. Boyd Anderson looked to clean up some titles on both the girls and boys side, but a majority of their runners have transferred to Northeast (Oakland Park) where they will compete in 4A. Kit Lofenski of Bartram Trail looks to make the finals in all three sprints: the 100,200, and 400 meter dash while 3A Cross Country Finals champion is the top returner in all three distance events, but will face tough competition from Caroline Barlow of Gulf Coast. In the hurdles, Daeshon Gordon is one of those transfers, making room for Kimani Austin-Reese of Miami Central and several others to take home titles. Lloydricia Cameron is one of the top throwers in the country and should add more hardware to her collection in both the shot put and discus.

Top Ten Returners By Class: 2A Girls & Boys Todd Grasley Feb 03, 2014

The 2014 track and field season is looming with several preseason meets this weekend and the start of the regular season right around the corner. Over the coming days we will take a look at the top ten returners in each event by class. On the girls side, Deanna Hill looks to pick up where she left off in 2013 after winning the 100 meter crown. Deja Parrish has been a mainstay in the 400 meters, can anyone take her down? Daesha Rogers has owned the 800 and 1600 meters since she was a sixth grader, will 2014 be any different?

Top Ten Returners By Class: 1A Girls & Boys Todd Grasley Feb 03, 2014

The 2014 track and field season is looming with several preseason meets this weekend and the start of the regular season right around the corner. Over the coming days we will take a look at the top ten returners in each event by class. 1A is our smaller classification, but that doesn't mean the performances are small. On the girls side Gaby Gayles, Tamani Wilson, Brittany McGee, Darrielle McQueen, and Stephanie Paul are looking for multiple titles.

4A Girls Team Scores: St. Thomas Aquinas Loaded With Speed & Distance Depth Todd Grasley Feb 02, 2014

2013 was a good year for the ladies of St. Thomas Aquinas as they picked up 4A state championship in track and field and then followed that up with a 4A Cross Country Finals team championship. The Raiders beat out Boyd Anderson by ten points, avenging a seven point loss at the hands of the Cobras in 2012. 2014 looks to be one of the best team's the school has had with the addition of Diamond Spaulding one of the top sprinters in the country.

4A Boys Team Scores: Raiders Ready To Take Back Team Trophy Todd Grasley Feb 01, 2014

When Clayton Washburn won the pole vault in the pouring rain at the 4A state championship last year it sealed the deal for Olympia to claim the team title. It also ended a three year run by St. Thomas Aquinas. The Raiders' girls won, but the boys finished as the 4A runner-up. This year Coach Armenteros' squad is poised to take back the trophy. Rasheed Tatham and Ibraham Dodo along with a strong distace group that won the 4A Cross Country Finals team championship, put them as the favorites in 2014. Olympia, Blanche Ely, Miramar, and Spruce Creek should all battle it out for the second spot on the podium.

3A Girls Team Scores: Nobody Messes With Miami Northwestern Todd Grasley Jan 31, 2014

From 2000-2011, the ladies of Miami Northwestern have won six 4A state championships, tallied four runner-up trophies, and a third place finish. In 2012, the Bulls moved down to 3A and dominated in the same fashion winning that year as well as last year in 2013 to give them a string of four consecutive championships. The 2014 squad looks to continue that streak, going for their fifth in a row, their ninth in ten years.

3A Boys Team Scores: Liberty Looks To Make School History Todd Grasley Jan 31, 2014

Liberty High School could make history at the 3A state championship. The Chargers are looking for their first boys' team championship ever with a strong showing the first week of May at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville. Leading the way is junior sprinter Devarius Turner and two of the top jumpers in the state Marion Brown and Joshua Wilson. Gainesville is also strong, but will be without stud Tony James who will be 19 and too old to compete. Boyd Anderson also loses  their star athlete, hurdler Deron Gordon who has transferred to Northeast High School (Oakland Park). Can Gainesville overcome the loss of James and improve on their third place finish? This could be one of the closest team battles of the weekend!

2A Girls Team Scores: Bolles Counting On Big Points From Distance Squad, Don't Sleep On Godby Todd Grasley Jan 29, 2014

The Bolles Lady Bulldogs won the 2A Cross Country finals and are hoping their strong distance squad can power them to a state track and field championship. Luckily for the program, it will be a down year for American Heritage who has hoisted the trophy the last four years. Don't count out Godby who could close the gap and spoil the party with Caitlin Wilson who is a quadruple threat in the sprints and in the jumps!

2A Boys Team Scores: Nobody Will Stop These Tornadoes Todd Grasley Jan 28, 2014

Jacksonville will be under a Tornado watch during the 2A state meet and I'm not talking about inclimate weather. The boys from Booker T. Washington in Miami come in as heavy favorites. As you may recall, it came down to the 4x400 meter relay for this team in 2013, and a second place finish in thar race, put them one point behind Lakewood and as the 2A runner-up.

1A Girls Team Scores: Depth and Experience Make Holy Trinity Clear Favorite Todd Grasley Jan 27, 2014

Holy Trinity looks like the clear favorite to take the 1A state championship and add some more hardware to the school's rich history. The Tigers finished second behind Maclay in 2013, but look very balanced and are loaded with experience. They should receive a large number of points from Julie Wollrath and Samantha Folio in the distance events, sprinters Daryth and Gaby Gayles who are headed to Stanford as well as Mckenzie Kilborne, the reigning 1A champion in the high jump. Can Maclay stay on the podium once again or will Calvary Christian claim the second spot?

Track and Field Top 50: Discus Todd Grasley Jan 21, 2014

We conclude our Track & Field Top 50 with our discus throwers. Much like the shot put, Miami Northwestern senior Lloydricia Cameron dominated the discus in 2013. Cameron won the 3A state championship, Golden South Classic, USATF World Youth Trials, and AAU Junior Olympics just to name a few. Her personal best of 159-50 is over 17 feet better than anyone in the state and is the third best returning time in the country for 2014. On the boys' side, Apopka senior Jamal Whittaker is looking for his first state title. Whittaker's throw of 174-4 is tops in the state by five feet!

Track and Field Top 50: Shot Put Todd Grasley Jan 20, 2014

The throws might not get all the love that the sprints do during track and field season, but here at flrunners.com we love every event! Miami Northwestern senior Lloydricia Cameron might be one of the most successful female throwers to come through the state. She leads all returners in the discus with a mark of 49-6.5. Can the 2012 and 2013 state champion break the 50 foot barrier? On the boys' side, Frederick Jones isn't the most talkative thrower, but that's okay because he let's his marks do the talking for him. Jones, a senior at Miami Monsignor Pace, has won the last two state championships in the shot put, and has a personal best mark of 61-7.5 that he set at the Florida Relays.

Track and Field Top 50: Pole Vault Todd Grasley Jan 16, 2014

Lake Mary senior Erica Sergeant is looking for her third straight 4A state championship. She comes into the 2014 season as the top returner having gone 12'5 twice, 12'6, and a personal best 12'6.25 at AAU Club Nationals. On the boys side, only four have gone over 15'0. Evangelical Christian junior Drew McMichael went 15'6 at AAU Club Nationals and has the top returning outdoor time. However, watch out for Bolles senior Harry Glasser. He went 15'0 last year and recently cleared 16'0 at an indoor meet in North Carolina.

Track and Field Top 50: High Jump Todd Grasley Jan 15, 2014

Ponte Vedra junior Nicole Greene went undefeated in 2013 including her second consecutive 3A state championship. At the Taco Bell Classic in South Carolina, she  tied a personal best of 5'10. On the boy's side Springstead senior Bobby Harris, the reigning 3A state champion has the highest mark at 6'9, but four jumpers are on his heals with a personal best of 6'8. See the top fifty returners in the high jump as well as the complete list linked below the rankings!

Track and Field Top 50: Triple Jump Todd Grasley Jan 14, 2014

Look at these leapers. Triple jump time. Check out the top fifty returners on both the boys and girls side. For the ladies, University of Florida commit Darrielle McQueen has been virtually unstoppable in this event. She is a four-time state champion (dating back to the 8th grade) and has gone nearly 41 feet in her career. Her personal best of 40'11 is more than two and a half feet more than Cynekia Bostic who is number two on the list. Two East Lake stars, Artavis Scott and George Campbell, lead the boys returners and both are two of the top football prospects in the class of 2014 and 2015. Scott soared over 48 feet at the Early Bird Eagle Invitational, but failed to find success at the state meet. Alex Gomez, the leader in the long jump, also looks very strong in this event.

Track and Field Top 50: Long Jump Todd Grasley Jan 13, 2014

We continue our list of top returners with the jumps. Rockledge senior Danielle Phillips is one of the most versatile athletes in the state combining her prowess in the hurdles with her success in the long and triple jump. After finishing runner-up at the 2A state championship the past two years, Phillips comes in with the best time in the state for 2014. She is the only jumper to go over 20 feet on the list, a mark she set at last year's Cape Coast Conference Championships. On the boys side, Olympia's Alex Gomez is also a multi-event standout. The 4A runner-up in 2013, he is the lone returnee to soar over 24 feet.

Track and Field Top 50: 300 Meter Hurdles Todd Grasley Jan 11, 2014

LSU commit Daeshon Gordon and twin brother Deron come into 2014 with the top times in the 300 meter hurdles. Both are now at Northeast High School after running for Boyd Anderson in 2013. Daeshon is the reigning 4A state championship in the 300's and is only one of two hurdlers to break 43 seconds. Deron, who missed out on the state meet last year, is one of two hurdlers to dip under 38 seconds.

Track and Field Top 50: 100/110 Meter Hurdles Todd Grasley Jan 11, 2014

Everyone loves a good battle in the hurdles and 2014 is shaping up to be another one in the girls 100 meter hurdles. Jones senior Stefani Kerrison finished first at last year's 2A state championship just ahead of Rockledge's Danielle Phillips. The two come in with the number one and number three fastest times of the season. Only Kerrison and Boyd Anderson's Daeshon Gordon who recently committed to LSU along with Phillips, have broken 14 seconds. On the boys side, Jonathan Hayden's 14.24 leads the way, but it's only one one-hundredth faster than rival John Battle IV of Hallandale. The two duked it out in 3A Region 4 and then again at the state meet. The South Florida hurdle talent is definitely strong again in 2014.

Track and Field Top 50: 3200 Meter Run Todd Grasley Jan 09, 2014

Emily Edwards leads both the 1600 meter run and 3200 meter run categories. The Fort Myers senior and University of Alabama signee ran 10:45.42 at the 2013 FSU Relays. She is the reigning 3A Cross Country Finals champion and 1600 meter champion outdoors. Can she add a 3200 meter title to her collection? After an incredible cross country season where he won the 3A Cross Country Finals, Leon junior Sukhi Khosla comes in with the top 3200 meter time when he ran 9:16.73 at the Bolles Bulldog Classic. If Khosla, can remain healthy like he did in cross he should have another stellar season on the track.
