The second annual King of the Hill Cross Country Invitational took place again in Miami's Tropical Park and it was another great event, even better than last year! From live music, to original awards, to the fantastic atmosphere provided in the venue, this looks to be a large South Florida meet that will continue to grow in the future!
The Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo, along with the Miami-Dade Youth Sports Championship Program, came together this year for the second year in a row to put on another great Dade County Youth Fair Cross Country Championship. Featuring close to 40 high schools for this nearly 40 year old competition, this county meet wasn't anything other than hot, humid, and extremely draining in typical Miami and Larry & Penny Thompson Park fashion.
Less than a week after the FACA Pre-Season Rankings, our volunteer pollsters are back with their opening week State Rankings. Although it's early in the season, let's see how this season is starting off...

With only one week to go, it's time to really start breaking down all of the top seniors from around the state in preparation for the Florida Athletic Coaches Association's Senior All-Star Meet. Some top selections have already been made by the FACA All-Star Committee, while the rest of the athletes will be selected this Sunday to start rounding out the teams.
Very similar to last year's 4A Region 4 Championship where there were many of the top individuals and teams from the State all going head-to-head with each other, this year's version of the same meet followed in the exact same suit...

An early morning fog greeted the top seniors in the state to Tallahassee for the FACA Senior All-Star Meet. The south team drove the furthest of the bunch, but that didn't stop them from taking some hardware back. Katrina Santiago of Ferguson and Manny Velasquez of St. Thomas Aquinas won individual titles, while the South girls took home the team trophy. Coach Kris Keppel's West squad won the boys team trophy.
