In Her Own Words: Sinclaire Johnson - Pre-State Awaits

Hi Flrunners! I am beyond excited for Pre-States this Saturday. It definitely ranks as one of my top favorite races of the season. It is one of my favorites because it’s a great team bonding trip and who doesn’t love a little team bonding?

This week has been a craaaazy one. I (along with the rest of Seminole County and I am sure other counties) have been burying my face in books studying away for the 1st quarter exams. Between school, practice and work there has been little time to take a deep breath. So with that being said, I am definitely looking forward to being surrounded by a bunch of runners rather than teachers and tests.

Now that my team is entering the last couple weeks until the state series, we have been working hard on tweaking the last little things before we start tapering. I know that all of the Florida runners out there are working just as hard and are ready for the results to start paying off. BUT as student-athletes we get so worked up about practice and school and our social lives that we forget about the little things that are most important.  These little things can include getting enough rest, eating a nutritious diet and STAYING HYDRATED! You can ask any of my teammates I am a HUGE believer in staying hydrated and with this scorching Florida heat it is just that much more important.

Don’t forget to step back sometimes and take a deep breath.  If you ask me, I don’t know of any athletes that are more dedicated to their sport than runners are.  Run for yourself and run for the fun of it!  I am sure I can speak for every Florida runner when I say that we are looking forward to drier course conditions and blue skies.  Let’s make this last regular season meet a GREAT one and I will see all of you out on the course.
