The opening day of the Pepsi Florida Relays delivered showcase performances across both track and field, including elite marks and national records, setting the tone for the relays on Saturday in Gainesville.
Distance & Mid-Distance Highlights Atarah Robinson (Venice) emerged as one of the standout performers of the day, doubling back to win both the 800m (2:10.17) and 1600m (4:50.57). The 1600m was particularly deep, featuring five athletes under 5:00.

In the boys' 800m, Preston Sangely (Spanish River) delivered one of the top performances in the country, clocking a US #1 1:49.64. The race was exceptionally deep, with three athletes under 1:52 and multiple contenders under 1:53, reinforcing the event as one of the meet's most competitive.
Distance races also impressed:
- Madison Muller (Riverview Sarasota) won the 3200m (10:24.72) and later placed third in the 1600m.
- Ewan Conroy (Bullis) took the boys' 3200m (9:13.70) in his 2026 outdoor permier.
- Evan Spreitzer (Holy Trinity Episcopal) claimed the boys' 1600m (4:11.25).
Sprint & Hurdle Performances:
- Jacob Thomas (Flanagan) led a fast, tight boys' 100m final (10.39) where four athletes dipped under 10.60.
- Peyton Ganther (Creekside) won a tightly contested girls' 100m (11.59), with multiple athletes within tenths of a second.
The girls' 100m hurdles was one of the most elite races of the day:
- Nia Armstrong (Sickles) ran 13.33, tying US #3.
- Four athletes broke 14 seconds.
In the boys' 110m hurdles, Jamari Rousseau (Landmark Christian) took the win in 13.87, just ahead of Jaiden Manning (Ocoee).

Quincy Wilson (Bullis) made a statement in his outdoor season debut, running 45.97 (US #3) to win the boys' 400m.
Kedric Wright Jr. (Palatka) followed with a strong 46.78, while Jadrian Carmo (Bishop Verot) added depth to the field at 46.86, as three athletes broke 47 seconds.

The Long Jump saw somem big marks:
The state leaders in the High Jump both won.
Mya Arrendell (Bullis) won the girls' 400m (53.48), leading three athletes under 54 seconds.
Bullis girls (45.73) and Flanagan boys (40.35) led the 4x100 qualifiers.
In the 4x400, Bullis boys posted a US #2, standout 3:09.88, while Dillard girls led qualifiers at 3:45.51.
J'Nia Simpson (Tampa Catholic) dominated throws, winning both shot put (14.41m) and discus (48.69m).
Charlie Perkins (Niceville) captured the boys' discus (56.41m) and added a runner-up finish in shot put.

Raymond Hawkins (Flanagan) went 7.50m (24-7¼) to win the boys' long jump and later contributed to Flanagan's top 4x100 qualifier.
The girls' long jump saw a tie at the top, with Hayden Higgins (East Lake) and Mikayla Shavers (Fleming Island) both at 5.93m (19-5½).
Journee Belcher (Rickards) won the girls' high jump (1.70m).

Jeremiah Lysius (Park Vista) cleared 2.04m (6-8¼) in the boys' high jump.
In the pole vault, Ramell Walley (Atlantic Coast) and Nathan Williams (Beachside) shared the boys' title at 4.65m, while Sienna Starks (Bolles) led a deep girls' field at 3.65 (11-11 ¾).
