Timothy Doyle wasn't in the front at the beginning of the 4A-1 race, but that was just fine for the 4A 1,600m state champion. The Freedom junior picked up yet another winning the title in a new PR of 15:50 over Bryce Bell who also went sub 16. On the girl's side, it might have been the race of the week as Kayley Delay ran a new PR and FL#2 of 17:37.40 with freshman Elayna Bahr also joining the 17 minute club with a PR of 17:59.30. We merged results from every regional across the state to find out who won the week.

Lincoln freshman Alyson Churchill and Chiles junior Michael Phillips both set the bar for the best 3A times during regionals and in the process brought home region 1 championships. Churchill won her first regional crown in a FL#7 mark of 17:55.80 while Phillips also won his first to continue an excellent season and beat North Florida rival Matthew Clark of Creekside. We merged the results from all four regionals to determine who won the week.

It's been a relatively quiet cross country campaign for 2015 2A runner-up Caitlin Collier. The Bolles junior had a tremendous track season and looks like she is back in top form after winning districts and regionals. Her performance at the 2A Region 1 championship of 18:19.93 was her second straight regional title and the fastest of any girl in 2A. On the boy's side, Bulldogs teammate Charles Hicks picked up a win in 15:38.10 joining Caleb Pottorff (15:50) as the only two in 2A under 16 minutes during regionals. We merge the results from all four regionals to see who won the week.

Holy Trinity senior Samantha Folio picked up her first regional championship with a win at 1A-3 in the classification's fastest time of 19:11.80. On the boy's side, Chase Hyland of the Pine School brought back the 1A-4 trophy and helped his team to a runner-up finish and trip to state. We merged the results from ALL four regionals in 1A to determine who won the week.

Kayley Delay of Fletcher and Winter Springs freshman Elayna Bahr posted the second and seventh fastest times of the 2016 cross country season while Timothy Doyle beat Bryce Bell of Lyman by five seconds to win his second race of he postseason at the 4A Region 1 Championship. Lincoln freshman Alyson Churchill set a new PR and FL#6 time of 17:55.80 to win the 3A Region Championship while Michael Phillips of Chiles and Matthew Clark of Creekside both dipped under 16 minutes to finish 1-2 in the boys race. On the team front, the Niceville girls placed 7 in the top 15 to win with 40 points, while the Chiles boys defeated Creekside by 9 points.


Grace Blair and Oak Hall Continue Dominance, Pocket-Sized Cooper LaBrant KO's 1A Goliaths Andy Warrener Oct 29, 2016

Grace Blair of Oak Hall and Cooper LaBrant of Indian Rocks Christian both finished second at last year's regional, but came away with gold in 2016. On the team front the Oak Hall girls achieved their goal of winning with less than 40 points, while the boys had it a little harder edging out St. Stephens Episcopal by THREE points 97-100. Both individual races in 2A- Region 3 were dominated by individual runners. On the girls side, it was Lemon Bay's Kelsi Oglivie, on the boys side it was Lake Wales' Paul Stafford. The Lely boys led by Joshua Wagner won the regional title over Dunbar while on the girl's side Academy of Holy Names and Berkeley Prep both used their depth to finish 1-2. Gator Girls Abernathy, Acosta and Vanguard’s Lavieri-Sosa Gobble up Top Spots in 3A-2 Regional Meet Andy Warrener Oct 29, 2016

Land O' Lakes sophomore Natalie Abernathy and Vanguard junior Diego Lavieri-Sosa brought home their first regional championships by taking the 3A-2 crown at Holloway Park in times of 19:17.37 and 16:13.20. On the team side, Vanguard and Matanzas finished 1-2 while Logan Locascio and the Gainsville boys won by 18 points over New Smyrna Beach. Andy Warrener recaps all the action.


4A-2 Recap: Riverview's Hertenstein, Hendrix Go 1-2, Lakewood Ranch Boys Edge Newsome By 4 Todd Grasley Oct 29, 2016

Bailey Hertenstein smashed the Holloway Park course record in a time of 18:13.83 with freshman teammate in second place with a time of 18:58.22. On the boy's side it came down to a sprint to the finish with Jordan Gonzalez of Sarasota giving the Sailors a regional champion for the second straight year. Steinbrenner girls dominated with 46 pts. while the Lakewood Ranch boys edged out Newsome by four points 85 to 89. Andy Warrener recaps all the action from 4A Region 2.

WATCH: Hertenstein Crushes Holloway Park Record By 27 Seconds, 18:13.83 Todd Grasley Oct 28, 2016

Riverview junior Bailey Hertenstein is one of only three girls to ever break 19 minutes on the Holloway Park course. Hertenstein's 18:40.70 was the top ranked mark, but she crushed that at the 4A Region 2 Championship winning in a time of 18:13.18. Equally impressive was freshman teammate Alyssa Hendrix who added her name to the best times in course history with a sub 19 mark of 18:58.22 as the runner-up.  Due to their success, the Sharks claimed the sixth and final spot as a team for the state meet.

One of the best races of the day was the boys race in 4A Region 2. Jordan Gonzalez, Haftom Fliegelman, and Tristen Montalvo all rounding the curve to the final shoot stride for stride in a three-way battle. Gonzalez pulled away in the final seconds to win in 16:36.48 with Fliegelman and Montalvo right behind at 16:38.22 and 16:38.55.

Freshman Jordan Shapiro of Miami Palmetto lead a 1-2-3 sweep for the class of 2020. Shapiro clocked a PR time of 19:02.58 on a tough Larry & Penny Thompson Park course to win her first race of the year and first ever regional title in 4A-4. Ferguson edged out Lourdes 44-59 for the team title.

Sixty four district meets marked the start of the road to state for athletes and teams around Florida. We took our Who Won The Week series to another level this time. 4A Region 1 is called the Region Of Death for a reason. On the girl's side five of the top six times from districts that make up 4A-1 were the best of the week. Defending state champion Bailey Hertenstein posted another sub 18 minute time to take 4A District 7 with ease. Luckily, for those to the north, Hertenstein is in Region 2. On the boy's side Buchholz senior Calum McFetridge was the 4A 1 champion after finishing third in 2015, and runner-up in 2014. We take a look at the top 500 times state wide for class 4A to see who won the week.

Ponte Vedra junior Claire Mortiz helped the Sharks take a bite out of the competition and win 3A District 4. Moritz was one of three runners on the day to run under 19 minutes (18:26.70) joining Lauren Stanford (18:34.50), and Creekside's Claire Openshaw (18:47.10). A total of 16 girls broke 19 during districts. On the boy's side, six guys broke 16 minutes led by state leader Matthew Clark of Creekside who won 3A-4 in 15:43.64. We take a look at the top 500 times state wide for class 3A to see who won the week.
