Who Proved Us Wrong In Preseason Rankings?

1A Girls and Boys

Girls

Holy Trinity eighth grader, Carly McNatt was on our watch list during the preseason scouting reports, but we certainly could not predict the performances she has had the past few weeks. With her 17:35 performance at Great American, McNatt and the Holy Trinity squad continue to be on our watch list.

Never underestimate Oak Hall. This team has all five of their athletes sub 21 minutes and their number one, Lauren Jones, has had one progressively fast season. Right now they sit at #2 behind Circle Christian for the classification.

Father Lopez Catholic HS is a team that did not make our preseason scouting report and they have proved to be one of the top teams in 1A so far this season. Led by freshman, Mary Peck, the Father Lopez squad had a fantastic weekend at Great American running the Varsity Blue race.

Peck led the girls to victory with a PR of 18:53, along with her teammate Claire McDonnell 19:02. The Father Lopez girls will need to get their #4 and #5 up with their #3 girl to be in contention with Circle Christian and Oak Hall.

Boys

Gabriel Curtis and the Mount Dora Christian Academy boys sit at the number one spot with a time of 15:28, as our scouting report indicated back in August. This team is very strong with Curtis leading along with Jackson Pruim, Mitchell Curtis, Sebastian Deleon, and Tom Valente. After a fantastic performance in Arkansas at Chile Pepper, this team will be tough one to beat.

Just like the girls, Oak Hall is another team we missed in the preseason scouting reports. This squad, led by Austin Montini, has had a very strong season and have moved up in the rankings up to the number two 1A team in the state.

Oak Hall has a very young team and the talent they are already showing is promising for future years in this classification.
