Two of the state's very best freshmen girls battled it out for first place in the select division race at the FSU Pre-State Invitational between Astronaut's Madison Carr (1st, 18:39) and Academy of Holy Names' Elizabeth Williamson (2nd, 18:41). Their times would have placed them inside the top 10 of the elite girls race at the same meet, which is why both ninth graders find themselves ranked among the top dozen in the state.
