This Week's Nominees:
Duke Carpenter, The Geneva School: Won the discus at the FHSAA Outdoor State Finals with a throw of 190-8.58, defeating a field of 66 competitors. Also competed in the shot put, placing 15th with a mark of 51-6.9.
DJ Dobie, Lakeland HS: Captured the 100m title at the FHSAA Outdoor State Finals in 10.24, topping a field of 75 runners. Also ran 21.69 in the 200m, finishing 29th.
Kedric Wright Jr, Palatka HS: Posted a winning time of 46.07 in the 400m at the FHSAA Outdoor State Finals, leading a field of 72 competitors. The #1 junior in the state in the event also ran 10.60 in the 100m for 14th place.
Owen Kaye, Raines HS: Clocked 20.87 for second place in the 200m at the FHSAA Outdoor State Finals. Also competed in the 100m, running 10.75 for 25th place.
Marcelo Mantecon, Belen Jesuit Preparatory School: Swept the 800m and 3200m titles at the FHSAA Outdoor State Finals, winning the 800 in 1:51.40 and the 3200 in 8:56.02 (new FHSAA meet record). The top-ranked junior in the state in both events also ran 4:17.38 in the 1600m for 15th place and a leg on the winning boys 4x800m relay.
