As another cross country season comes to a close, let's see what our FACA Volunteer Pollsters predict for the 2012 edition of the Florida Cross Country State Finals.

Take a beautiful, cool SW Florida morning and mix in a flat, short grass field, a nine meter tall man-made hill, a soccer field, a sugar sand / gravel jeep trail, some woods, a three net sand volleyball pit, three 180º switchbacks and run it twice, hard, and you have the 3A Region 3 meet at Estero Community Park.

Now that all of the 64 Districts in the state have concluded, let's see what our Volunteer Pollsters think about this upcoming Region week.

Countryside’s Paul McKenna usually takes a more conservative approach in races, preferring to stalk the front-runners before reeling them in. Wednesday, McKenna adopted more of a go-for-gusto philosophy, sprinting to the lead and trying to keep that frenetic pace as long as he could. (via www.tampabay.com)

In one of the most anticipated girls races of the season, Shorecrest’s Alex Eaton and Northeast’s Amanda Spring sprinted out to the lead Thursday and stayed within one another at the St. Petersburg City Meet.(via www.tampabay.com)

The flrunners.com Invitational 13 has come and gone and it has really helped structure the latest rankings of which teams and individuals are the top of their class.

Jason Byrne and Todd Grasley are usually stretched pretty thin, so I generally hear from them on such occasions when a story is afoot, or that one should be. In the days prior to this meet, however, I began to receive a few more communications from J&T than expected.
