Can't cheat the grind! The what? The grind, you can't cheat it! That's how the Bolles distance girls conclude their practices. It's a program that is loaded with talent which is evident in the Bulldogs' string of cross country titles and success on the track. We caught up with them before the FSU Relays as they focused on their core training in this edition of Workout Wednesday.
The top runners in the state of Florida will be in Tallahassee this weekend for the 2016 FSU Relays. The two-day event will feature both high school and college competition. Distance runners love this meet and will highlight the action Friday night in the invitational 3,200m and Saturday night in the invitational 1,600m. The highlight of the FSU Relays always seems to be the distance events. 2016 will be no exception with a star studded field in both the 1,600 and 3,200m led by Merritt Island senior and FSU signee Steven Cross who is making his first appearance at this meet. Much like the boys, the girls distance events will definitely be a focal point of the FSU Relays. The girls 1,600m run will feature four girls under 5:00 lead by Calvary Christian's Hannah Brookover and FOURTEEN girls who have run under 5:05. The 2016 FSU Relays are slated for this weekend at Mike Long Track in Tallahassee and will once again feature the top talent from Florida and surrounding states. Rafaella Gibbons of Winter Park led the FSU Relays girls 3200 wire to wire in a US #6 time of 10:35. Watch her win as well as the rest of the girls that joined her under 11 in a deep field.
Watch Seffner Christian Academy senior Noah Perkins run a phenomenal final 800 meters to win the 3,200m at FSU Relays in a 15 second PR, state leader, and US#10 time of 9:08.54.
