We will once again be hosting a state track & field championship for middle school athletes. The championship meet will be held on May 8, 2010 in the Orlando area—the exact venue is TBD. Though the same concepts will still be in place and most athletes and meet directors mostly unaffected, there are some significant changes to qualifying and entry.

We are excited to announce that we will be partnering with Holy Trinity Academy in Melbourne to hold the middle school state championship meet this year. Their fine facility will be a great venue and provide fans with better stadium-style viewing, great PA system, and easy parking access. In addition, working with one of the best producers of young talent in the state will be a huge plus to help with the meet organization and fill out our staff. The middle school state championship is now entering its ninth year of existence! Can you believe it? Since its beginning in 2002 it has continued to grow in importance and participation. It has served as a source of pride and goal for middle school track & field athletes who are too often overshadowed and their hard work ignored. Over the years the event has evolved. This year for the first time athletes must qualify by hitting auto-qualifying standards at select meets. Here are the athletes and relay teams who have qualified so far.
Here is the updated list of qualifiers for the middle school state championship. Remember that you have to hit one of the qualifying standards at a designated qualifying meet only. Qualifiers must still enter. See the State Championship Meet page for details. We also have a policy change, so read this article for details.
It is really awesome to hear from you all and know how the excitement is building for the state meet with you and your kids! We have seen this build every year and are proud to have created this outlet and culmination point for these kids. We have updated the Middle School Championship meet page and also have a few anouncements and clarifications that have been asked a lot.
Entries are now 100% closed. We had over 600 athletes registered for this meet in over 900 events. I have been through each of the performances to verify them and hopefully rejeced those who did not meet the standard and accepted all of those who have! If you see any errors, need me to change something minor, or have any questions please let me know.
Thanks to all who came and congratulations to those who qualified! A big thanks also to Holy Trinity, Steeple Timing, Dan Dearing, my wife and dad, and the rest of our great volunteer staff who helped us pull it off! Complete results are now posted. There were many records broken in this exciting meet... the largest and perhaps most competitive ever. Meet summary and founder's post-meet analysis letter coming on Monday.
