MEET INFORMATION
GIRLS ELITE SEEDS (7:30 am)
The New World Course Record of 17:14.00 was set last year by Mackenzie Roy of Spruce Creek. Aside from the state meet, which is divisional, this may be the premier meet of the season for the girls. Florida has 13 of the Top 20-ranked girls in the state scheduled to run. Ten girls enter Saturday's race with Sub-18:00 performances. The top five seeds go to girls who ran at North Port, but don't let the fast times from the North Port course be misleading. It's cross country, a historically fast course, and as the saying goes, "anything can happen on any given day." Expect a fast pace through the mile, a tight group of girls through the 2-mile. It just may come down to who can hang on the last 200m, and we may see a new course record.

Senior Jazlyn Forbes of Oasis is undefeated on the season with five wins and has set four new course records. She was 5th last year with a 17:44.00 and is looking to remain undefeated this season and improve on last year's time. She is coming off a win at the FLRUNNERS.COM INVITATIONAL, where she ran 15 seconds faster than the year before on the challenging Holloway Park course. She was 4th in last year's 2A state championships, finishing just behind Annabella Tomasic of Bishop Moore. She is an experienced and patient runner, making her one of the favorites, if not the favorite, to win.
In addition to Forbes, watch for Tomasic, Julia McKenna of Hilton Head (SC), and Avery Hartley to be among the top challengers.
Annabella Tomasic of Bishop Moore had an incredible 7th-grade season, culminating in a 2A State championship. In 2024, she was 3rd at the State meet. The freshman has two dominant wins this season, with her slowest time a 17:37 in her win at Cecil Field. She likes to go out strong and challenge the field to go with her. If she runs like she is capable of and is healthy, she will definitely challenge for the win.
Julia McKenna of Hilton Head (SC). She is the No. 4-ranked girl in South Carolina at this time with a 17:49.50. McKenna has won her last three outings with two sub-18:00 performances.
Freshman Avery Hartley of Bartram Trail has shown that she can run fast with two sub-18:00 wins this season. She was second at Cecil Field in 18:16.00 and won at the HOKA NIGHTS OF THUNDER with an 18:06. She has been gaining experience. The question is whether she has the experience to win in this level of competition.
Others to watch:
Kate Brice of The Episcopal School of Jacksonville had a good showing at the Alexander/Asics Invitational last weekend. The sophomore has been running well and finished 10th with a 15:53.06. The question is, can she maintain that confidence going into Saturday's race?
Danielle Graham is capable of running fast. The IMG senior was 6th at North Port and is one of the team leaders at IMG. Last year she was a member of the IMG girls 4x800 and had PR's on the track of 2:10.72 in the 800m and 4:45.36 in the Mile.
GIRLS TEAM
The top ten girls' teams in the current state rankings are scheduled to run, led by the girls from IMG Academy. it will be interesting to see just how good the IMG girls are. They are capable and experienced, and have an Average time of 18:06.39, but they will need seniors Huntley Buckingham and Alyson Johnson to step up if they are to hold off the Episcopal School of Jacksonville. On paper, it's IMG, but Episcopal just may get the win, with IMG second and Bishop Kenny third.
