The Bishop Kenny boys scored one of the biggest upsets of regional week in knocking off the 2-time defending 2A state champions and their local Jacksonville rival Bolles at the FHSAA 2A Region 1 meet in Lake City with a score of 48 points compared to Bolles having to settle as the runner-up with 50 points. While Bolles was missing one of their top runners in Parker Adams (15:46 season best), the Bishop Kenny boys seized on the opportunity with their opponent vulnerable with a 53 second spread separating their top 5 runners led by top 10 individual finishers Alejandro Vinas (4th, 16:21), Juan Pablo Castillo-Zima (5th, 16:22) and Jack Liuzzo (8th, 16:29). If Adams is not able to return to the lineup this week for the state meet, Bishop Kenny boys could possibly join their girls team in a state title sweep that the Bolles program has enjoyed the past two seasons.
Boys team results merge from all 4 of the FHSAA 2A Regionals held last week in Florida.
