FSU Relays: Mother Nature Wins Day 2, Shortened Day Summary

After a successful day one at the FSU Relays, as soon as day two started so did the rain. And boy did it come down! After getting off a few events after a morning delay, the remainder of the meet was called around 3:30PM.

North Augusta's O'Brien runs PR 3200 in Fla., 9:13 S.C. no. 1

North Augusta junior Nik O'Brien ran a personal best 3,200-meter run of 9 minutes, 13.86 seconds at FSU Relays in Tallahassee.

The 34th FSU Relays, one of the largest and most competitive track & field meets in the South, begin Friday at Mike Long Track on the Florida State campus. More than 2,400 high school, college and post-collegiate athletes, will compete in the two-day affair that will feature some of the nation’s most talented athletes.

Speed River In Action Across The Globe

Chris Moulton Speed River athletes were in action across the globe and on every type of surface this weekend. From the World Cross Country Championships in Poland, to North America’s oldest road race in Hamilton and a kickoff to the outdoor track season in North Carolina it was a whirlwind weekend featuring many great results.

Team USA men grab best finish since 1984 at World Cross Country Championships

BYDGOSZCZ, Poland--In one of the most surprising performances in recent memory, Team USA, led by the sixth place finish of Ben True (Hanover, N.H.) earned a hard fought team silver medal in the senior men's 12-kilometer race at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships at Myslecinek Park.

True leads US to World XC silver w/6th place, McClintock top US junior in 20th

Maine was well represented at the World XC Championship in Bydgoszcz (Myslecinek Park), POLAND this morning. In the Men's Jr 8k, Madison HS and current Purdue Boilermarker Matt McClintock shined with a 20th place finish to lead the US squad. On the Men's Sr 12k, Ben True, current Saucony and former Greely HS star ran an incredible race to place 6th overall and lead the US to a silver medal team performance. Check out more.

All four Canadian teams place in top 10 at today's World Cross Country Championships

Emily Hooper - Athletics Canada Veuillez cliquer ici pour voir la version française   Bydgoszcz, Poland - All four Canadian teams finished in the top ten at today's International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Cross Country Championships.  The senior women's team placed eighth, the junior men and senior women placed ninth while the junior men's team placed tenth.

Colonial senior and UF signee, Andres Arroyo, is currently in snowy Poland. He is preparing for tomorrow's IAAF World Cross Country Junior Championships, representing Puerto Rico at the international championship.

Andres Arroyo Beats the Rain, Spontaneously Runs 4:04 AT Florida #3

With dark skies closing in on Showalter Field in Winter Park, Andres Arroyo of Colonial decided he better run fast if he wanted to get the race in at the rain-shortened Metro Prelims. The Boys 1600 ended up being the last race of the night; Andres ran Florida's third fastest high school 1600 all-time.

On Tuesday night at a home meet at Fireman's Field in Sebring, a low entry count in the girls 1600 prompted the meet management staff to decide to run both genders together. As a result, Tubbs for once had someone to race against (which has only happened once before this season at the Steinbrenner Invitational)... at least for a little bit, that is before she left the boys in her dust!

Two Dozen Teams Tackle Tarpon Invitational: Naples & Manatee Team Champs

A fun-filled day of track and field embarked Charlotte HS as they hosted the annual Tarpon Invitational. With a strong 24 teams in attendance the day was filled with fast times, exciting victories, and great competition.
