Edgewater Invitational: Boys Race To Crazy Finish, Lyden Looks Good Despite Sloppy Conditions

Sloppy conditions is an understatement to describe the 42nd Annual Edgewater Invitational. Pouring down rain and intermittent lightning strikes, postponed the start of the meet over an hour. The rain slowed and the lightning halted, but there was one more obstacle, daylight. As time was of the essence, they decided to run all athletes together: junior varsity, boys, and girls varsity which made for one bunched up start.

42nd Annual Edgewater Invitational Meet Preview

The Edgewater Invitational is in its 42nd year and is one of the longest running meets in the state of Florida. Since 2008, the meet has been run in October and serveed as a tune up for the Metro Conference Championships. Fast forward to this year's event the first week in September. For most teams it will be only their first or second race of the year. No matter what though Trotters Park is a great course and there will be great competition. Let's take a look at some of the athletes and teams to keep an eye on.

The TKA Lions Cross Country Invitational is quickly becoming a major early season invitational meet for the area. A well-deserved reputation for a well-run meet has begun to draw schools from around the area. The last two years over 20 schools have competed, including many traveling from Broward County.

Leon Gets Best Of Edwards, Bennett Beats Field At Fort Myers Optimist Invitational

It was a hot humid morning at Veterans Park in Lehigh Acres for the Fort Myers Optimist Invitational. A new and improved course saw athletes starting on soccer fields, running on baseball fields, up and down hills, and ultimately through the finish. When the tough course was completed Estero's Araceli Leon and Fort Myer's Tyler Bennett came out victorious. Al "JJ" Delgalo was on-site with over 1000 awesome photos to recap all the action.

Indian Rocks Invitational: The Race Of The Lost Shoes

The 2013 Indian Rocks Invitational was sped up to duck a storm system that threatened lower Pinellas County on Thursday evening. The JV race was bumped up to 4pm and the Varsity boys and girls races were combined for a 4:45pm start. The boys started two minutes ahead of the girls to curb congestion on the course.

Katie Caples Invitational: Xiang Shines Against Bright Field, Marquez Era Continues With Win

Jacksonville- Several running clichés echoed through the windy night air after Saturday night’s Katie Caples’ Elite races: 1) summer training is the crux of a successful cross country season; (2) it takes five runners to secure a win and (3) racing is the true barometer of the quality of a team…..all conjecture is thrown out the door once the team line up.
