No question that Leon's Patrick Koon reigns supreme in the 3A classification as the defending state cross country champion and a sub 9 minute 3200 meter performer from the track, but will be intriguing to see if fellow rising junior Joshua Ruiz of Belen Jesuit can make a one sided rivalry a bit more evened up this fall. Last year's state runner-up to Koon has a 5K best of 15:16 and ran a swift 3200 meter time of 9:14 on the track as a 10th grader.
