The girls 400 meter dash at FHSAA 4A Region 4 hosted at Tropical Park in Miami was a thriller with not one but two athletes going 52 seconds in the race. State leader and Western freshmen Skyler Franklin had the advantage coming off the final turn, but 100 and 200 meter specialist Cynteria James of Miami Southridge showed off her improved range to catch Franklin in the final strides for a US #3 time of 52.52 for first palce. Meanwhile, Franklin initially second place with a time under 53 seconds was unfortunately disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct after an exchange with an official after the race. So we will not see them battle again at the state meet.
