Senior Charles Loftin of the Providence School is headed to Lipscomb University next year. He is having a breakout senior season in cross country with a 10th-place performance at the FSU Pre-State in 15:21.30. I'm not sure what happened in 2023 at the FSU Pre-State when he ran 19:04.70 in 272nd place, but his improvement in the race from 2023 to 2025 was an impressive 3:43.40.
His XC running career began with a 5K time of 21:35.68 as a 5th-grader in 2019. In between his 5th-grade season and now, he has steadily improved with seasonal PR's of 19:011.10 in 2020, 18:26.10 in 2021, 17:19.10 in 2022, 16:42.50 in 2023, and 16:11.90 in 2024. This season, he has run six times and, with the exception of a poor outing at the Bale n' Trail in September, has had five sub-15 performances, with his PR of 15:20.00 coming at the New World Fall Spectacular.
