Marcelo Mantecon of Belen Jesuit took a break after the 2024 Cross Country season. Indoors, at the Nike Indoor Nationals, he won the 5,000m in 14:14.38, setting a new US Sophomore No. 1 National Record, breaking the old record of 18:18.42, set in 2011 by Lukas Verzbicas of Orlando Park (Sandburg) (IL).
