Boys 3200m Run
Expect a great duel in the boys 3,200m between two guys inching closer and closer to sub-9 in Fleming Island junior Graham Myers and Cypress Creek senior Zack Poekert.
Poekert was the runner-up to Patrick Koon at the Bolles Bulldog Classic earlier this season with a 9:09 personal best, while Myers finished third in the race at 9:12.
The Naval Academy commit Poekert was the Florida indoor state champion in the mile at 4:15 this past February.
Then Myers was third to Koon at the FSU Relays last weekend with a 9:03 personal best while Poekert finished 6th in 9:09.
Myers was the FHSAA Class 1A state runner-up last spring in the 3,200m while at St. Johns Country Day before transferring over to Fleming Island.
There will be a pack of runners who have all run in the 9:20 range that will try to keep up with Myers and Poekert and work their way into the 9:10s, including Grant Doherty of Ponte Vedra, Wyatt Townsend of Chiles, Zach Spooner of Flagler Palm Coast, Clayton Knight of Ocala Vanguard, Alejandro Romagosa of Columbus, and John Keester IV of Fleming Island.
