David "Chuli" Serra of Ransom Everglades had never cross country before this season, but already two races into the season, the junior is already breaking 16 minutes for 5K after his runner-up finish and near win at the Astronaut Invitational on Saturday with a time of 15:53. Serra did show a flash of his talent last spring when he ran 1:52 for 800 meters to win at the Golden South Series #1. He suddenly emerges as a state title contender in the 2A classification.
