Florida has a history of elite high school boys' Belen Jesuit distance runners. Marcelo Mantecon of Belen Jesuit set a new all-time mark of 14:35.25 in his win at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, AL, over the past weekend. His time eclipsed the time of one of his teammates from 2024, Joshua Ruiz, who had run 14:38.79 in winning the 2023 Southern Showcase.
The MileSplit database goes back to 1983. If anyone is aware of verified times for an XC 5K before that, I would appreciate the information.
