Virtual Meet Preview: Jim Ryun Season Opener Todd Grasley Aug 26, 2016

This year is the 52nd anniversary of Jim Ryun becoming the first high schooler to break four minutes in the mile. Jim Ryun will be there to present the awards for what look to be some great races in Lakeland that a massive 85 teams will be competing in. The meet kicks off with the varsity girls at 7:30 a.m. followed by the varsity boys at 8:00. The JV races start at 8:20 with the middle school races starting an hour later. The AAU race for athletes under the age of nine begin at 10:00. Our virtual meet feature gives us a chance to see how the meet might play out based on season bests from last year. Todd Grasley, Eric Kidd and Billy Simpson will be on-site with LIVE updates photos, race videos, interviews, recaps, results and more!

West Orange Jamboree: Megan Hannah Makes Warrior Season Debut, Merritt Island Looks For Team Sweep Todd Grasley Aug 19, 2016

The West Orange Jamboree Run will bring together some of Central Florida's top talent for a preseason tune-up. Over a dozen teams will head to Winter Garden, Florida Saturday morning. The boy's race features four guys who have gone under 17 minutes, while the girls race has Megan Hannah of the home team Warriors along with Emily English of George Jenkins, both have sub 19 minute personal bests. Merritt Island boys and girls are the favorite to sweep the team title. will be on-site with race video, interviews, recap, results, and more!

1A Girls Team Rankings: Title Race Wide Open, Top Three Separated By FIVE Points Todd Grasley Aug 2, 2016

The Oak Hall girls have been a podium mainstay of the 1A Cross Country Finals the past few years, but finished fourth in 2015 after winning the 1A Region 2 Championship. The Eagles are coming off a state title in track and have one of the most experienced squads in 1A. However, this year might be one of the closest team battles with Westminster Christian, Oak Hall, and Maclay separated by 5 points, and defending state champion Circle Christian returning five of their top seven. 

Track & Field Team Scores: 1A Boys - TFA Returns Core Nucleus From 2015 Runner-Up Squad Todd Grasley Jan 21, 2016

The First Academy boys finished 6.5 points behind Westminster Academy in 2014 and a mere half point off the top spot again in 2015. Needless to say the Royals are hungry for the team title and will rely on a well balance attack and core nucleus from that runner-up squad. Jahquez Durham (sprints), Allen Wiggins (throws), and Jonathan Griffin-Heard (hurdles/pole vault), along with the relays have the most potential to score big points. Maclay has a very strong distance squad and the classifications top pole vaulter in Darin Meeker and will give them a run at the top spot.

The First Academy's Michael Timpson, a UF signee, owns the fastest time in both the 100 and 200m dash. Timpson was first in the 100 and 200m respectively last year at the 1A state meet. Sprint Queen: Teahna Daniels Add US#1 60m To Go With US#1 55m Dash Todd Grasley Feb 7, 2015

First Academy senior and University of Texas signee already owns the fastest 55m time in the nation of 6.93s set at the Jimmy Carnes Indoor Meet. Saturday she added another US#1 to her accolades, sprinting past the field at the David Oliver Classic in North Carolina in a time of 7.39s. Daniels is the reigning 1A state champion in the 100 and 200m and one of the top sprinters in the country!

Hook Em' Horns: Sunshine State Speedster Teahna Daniels Decides University of Texas Todd Grasley Nov 19, 2014

First Academy senior Teahna Daniels had a junior season to remember in 2014. Daniels scored major wins at the Texas Relays, Florida Relays, and then at the 1A state championships where she won both the 100 and 200 meter dash. She finished first at the Golden South Classic and followed that up with a runner-up finish at the Adidas Grand Prix Dream 100 in New York City, and ended her year with a personal best 11.31 and third place showing at USA Juniors. Recently, Daniels announced her college decision to run for the University of Texas.

TFA State Champion Timpson Chooses The University Of Florida Todd Grasley Nov 19, 2014

Michael Timpson had never made it to the state championships in track before his junior year. The same year he transferred to The First Academy. In the spring of 2014, Timpson the son of former NFL wide receiver Michael Timpson Sr. finished first the 1A state meet in the 100m dash and was runner-up in the 200. He recently announced his college decision to run for Coach Mike Holloway and the University of Florida Gators. We caught up with him to talk about that decision.

National Signing Day has come early for runners in both cross country and track and field. The early signing period allows athletes to sign allows athletes to make their announcements starting today through next Wednesday, November 19th. For those who choose to wait it out, the final signing period will open on April 15, 2015 and close on August 1, 2015.  Many of the top stars around the country will have official signing ceremonies, while others may do so in the coming days. Who will be the college programs to line up an amazing class to make then national championship contenders over the next years? Athletes Of The Week : Teahna Daniels & Javon Patterson Todd Grasley Apr 11, 2014

First Academy junior Teahna Daniels and Boyd Anderson junior Javon Patterson are this week's Athletes of the Week. Daniels clocked a US#2 all conditions time of 11.37 to win at the prestigious Texas Relays. She followed that up with a head to head to win over East Ridge sophomore Kaylin Whitney, in a 11.44 seconds which is the fourth fastest all-conditions time of 2014. Patterson bested a very competitive field in the 800 meters, holding off the field, to finish first in a then US#2 and current US#5 time of 1:52.04.

Stanford bound seniors Gaby and Daryth Gayle lead class 1A in three categories. Gaby is first in the 200 and 400 while Daryth is the favorite in the long jump. Brittany McGee of Admiral Farragut looks to sweep in the hurdles and distance standout Sarah Candiano is the best in the1600m after her performance at the Florida Relays. On the boys side, First Academy is loaded in the sprints boasting three top relays and invididual leaders in the 100m dash and 300m hurdles. Westminster Academy has their fair share of studs too makign that title bount even more competitive come May!

Spring break is in the air and while some of their counterparts might have taken the weekend off, the ladies of St. Thomas Aquinas and Teahna Daniels of The First Academy headed out west to the Lonestar State to take part in the prestigious Texas Relays. The event held in Austin, at the University of Texas plays host to some of the top talent from in-state and across the country. Last year the Raider's made the trek and came home with some serious hardware, This year they are on pace to do that again and first timer Teana Daniels is looking to do the same.

We are getting into the heart of the season. The state championship is less than two months away. We wanted to see which teams would have the best shot at podium finishes if we crunched the numbers today. We scored 10 deep for individuals and ten deep for relays with first place receiving ten points for their team on down to one point for tenth place. Rankings as of 3/12/2014.    

Teahna Daniels Clocks US#1 60m At Age Group Invite In Alabama Todd Grasley Dec 29, 2013

Six months after going down with an injury at the Golden South Classic, Teahna Daniels is back to form. Daniels, transferred to The First Academy for her junior season and has been working with coach Ricky Argro in the offseason. Daniels headed north to Alabama to test her skills on the indoor track and came away with a US#1 7.53 seconds in the 60 meter prelims. She won the event with a a time of 7.58 in the finals and also won the 200 meter dash.

Baldwin Park in Winter Park played host to both 4A District 4 and 1A District 7. The TFA girls ran away with the meet with a "Royal sweep" placing all seven in the top seven lead by senior Emily Crist. On the boys side, Franco Martins cruised to victory. New Dimensions edged out his Winderemere Prep squad by just TWO points to take the team championship.

First Academy senior Ansley Gebben was ready to move on. School was coming to an end and she had just capped off a stellar track and field career with her fourth consecutive state title in the 300 meter hurdles. When the Golden South Classic came up on the calendar Gebben was hesitant to run to say the least, but Coach Rick Bohner knew it could be her last meet ever, the last meet on the Royal's home track.
